Part two of my seven wonders tour concerns The Colosseum in Rome. Although I have visited the Colosseum before it was a long time ago and I have to say it hasn't changed much! I hired a guide in advance and that was a very good decision I made. Marisa Ficorella is a local qualified archaeologist and amateur photographer. It is possible to visit the Colosseum without a guide but it does make it more interesting. A guide is necessary though when continuing on to see the Forum and Palantine Hill as it is set over a large area. My three hour booking extended to five and a half hours (including lunch) and the weather was extremely good. The photos were spoiled a little by the surrounding trees, barriers, work vehicles and tourists but at the end of the day it is what it is.
